Mr. Pop Culture | Exploring the World of Pop Culture Pop culture is everywhere. You know it when you come to the Internet, listen to music, watch television, app-gaming or go to a movie, concert, or stage show. You know the artists, the actors and actresses, sports personalities and the games they play. Today, anything with a buzz is deemed pop culture. The book definition says pop culture is a collection of thoughts, ideas, attitudes, perspectives, images (you name it) preferred by the mainstream population, which is a sort of common denominator. The most common pop culture categories are entertainment (movies, music, TV), sports, news (as in people/places in news), politics, fashion/clothes, and technology. Slang has also become popular in our culture as each year seems to have its own slang signature, especially with tweens and teens. Terms such as "going viral" are new pop culture – not only the term but the viral product itself. Each one of us has our own pop-culture menu. Look at your apps, your bookmarks, your songs playlist, TV shows, movies: what you 're saying on your favorite social networks. Smartphones today are the center of your pop culture. If you want to know more about pop culture, read on as we are going to give you its history and different definitions. History of Pop Culture It was in the 19th century when the term "popular culture" was coined. Traditionally, it was associated with poor education and with the lower classes, which is the opposite of the "official culture" and higher education of the upper classes. During the Victorian-era, Britain experienced social changes with the rise of the Industrial Revolution in the 18th and 19th centuries, which caused an increase in literacy rates. And with the growth of capitalism and industrialization, people started spending their money on entertainment, such as sports and the commercial idea of pubs. Reading also gained traction, and the Penny serials were published. These were cheap popular serial literature in the United Kingdom. Those were like the Victorian equivalent of video games. It was the first taste of mass-produced popular culture for the young in Britain. With the growing consumer culture and increased capacity for travel via the newly built railway that opened in 1825 in north-east England, a market for cheap popular literature was created with an ability to distribute on a large scale. With this, the first Penny serials were published in the 1830s due to the growing demand. Towards the end of the 19th century, the stress in the distinction from "official culture" became more pronounced. It is a usage that became established by the interbellum period or the period between wars. The meaning of popular culture began to be connected with those of mass culture, consumer culture, media culture, image culture, and culture for mass consumption from the end of World War II, following major cultural and social changes, which were brought by mass media innovations. The abbreviated form "pop" for popular, like in pop music, dates back from the late 1950s. Although not used in our lexicon back then, modern pop culture (as we know it) began with the baby boomer generation and "buying power." As boomers came of age with their disposable incomes – that influence led to the pop culture revolution. It began during the 1950s with rock n' roll, TV, Dick Clark and the hoola hoop, transistor radios, into the 1960s and beyond. The term "pop culture" became mainstream during the 1980s. Before this, we used "popular" to describe things such as top song playlists or "pop" as in art or "best" or "top" selling, as in books. Different Definitions of Pop Culture Based on the author of Cultural Theory and Popular Culture named John Storey, popular culture has different definitions. The quantifiable definition of culture has the problem that much "high culture", such as television dramatizations of Jane Austen, is also "popular." Aside from that, "pop culture" is also defined as the culture that is "leftover" when we have decided what high culture is. But many works overlap the boundaries, such as William Shakespeare, Leo Tolstoy, George Orwell, and Charles Dickens. The third definition of pop culture associates it with "mass culture" and ideas. This is seen as a commercial culture, which is mass-produced for mass consumption by mass media. If you take it from a Western European viewpoint, this can be compared to American culture. Pop culture can also be defined otherwise as an authentic culture of the people. However, this can be challenging because there are a lot of ways to define the "people." According to John Storey, popular culture emerged from the urbanization of the Industrial Revolution. For example, studies of Shakespeare locate much of the characteristic vitality of his drama in its participation in Renaissance popular culture. Other examples are contemporary practitioners like Dario Fo and John McGrath, who use popular culture in a sense that links to ancient folk traditions. Folk culture is at the opposite end of one spectrum from mass culture. As mentioned earlier, mass culture is mass-produced and mass-marketed on a large societal scale. Folk culture, on the other hand, is typically crafted individually, and it is produced and distributed on a local level. This can include folk art, folk music, folk crafts, and folklore. They usually originate from small, regional, or local groups of people, and are considered as representing only those small groups, and are propagating by word of mouth and not via mass media. Pop Culture Through the Decades Pop Culture is like a unifying bridge across time, which brings together generations of diverse backgrounds. Whether looking at the rock 'n' roll revolution of the 1960s or the thriving social networking websites of today, each period in America's cultural history develops its own exceptional take on the qualities that define our lives. To know more about the technologies introduced in the 1960s, read our 1960s Technology News In Review. But aside from television, computers also had a significant advancement in this decade. It is because of the introduction to the Xerox PARC, which was the first computer that was designed to support an operating system or OS based on a graphical user interface. At the start of the decade, Apple was already selling over 250 million Apple iPods. Google, on the other hand, started expanding its business when they announced that they'd be selling their own mobile phones. Social media has been prevalent in the 2010s, and Facebook has surpassed Google when it comes to website visits per year. But Facebook eventually found its competitors when Instagram and Pinterest were launched in the same year. In the world of mobile phones, the 4G broadband cellular network became popular. Cloud services were also becoming popular in 2011. With this, Apple released its own Cloud service called iCloud. But it was also in the same year when Apple's co-founder, Steve Jobs, passed away. In the gaming industry, Sony released the PlayStation 4 in 2013and eventually became the second best-selling video game console of all time next to PlayStation 2. There are many other developments in technology that have been done in the 2010s, aside from what we've mentioned here. To know more about them, read our 2010s Technology News In Review. Conclusion Pop culture is something that constantly evolves and occurs uniquely in place and time. It forms currents and swirls and represents a complex of equally inter-reliant perspectives and values that influence society and its institutions in different ways. Pop culture has affected and is continuously affecting all of us. We may not think about it that much, but it is everywhere around us. From the way we dress, the gadgets and technologies we use every day, the books we read, the movies we watch, the music we listen to, and more.Pop culture is fun, fascinating, and is at the center of our lives. Test yourself. The last time you spoke to your good friend, wasn't pop culture part of that conversation?

The Wolf Connection | Building Your Internet Business - The Basics The internet is a never-ending marketplace where buyers, sellers and marketers can meet. If you are thinking of starting an internet marketing business, you should learn more about internet marketing (IM). There are many things that customers want to know about your business, and you should satisfy your customers' curiosity or they'll take their business elsewhere. Read on to learn how to start internet marketing and find new customers. Start a Blog If you think starting an internet business is easy, you're mistaken. It's sometimes a real hassle to keep people updated, but blog marketing can build strong connections between you and your customers. Regular updates will give your customers the opportunity to offer feedback about your products, and blogging will help you rank for valuable keywords. I personally learned my blogging skills from IME, it's the best internet marketing training for beginners available at a really cheap price of only $9.97 per month and hosts over 3000 ready-to-watch video courses to help you get started with blogging, SEO, internet marketing, WordPress, email marketing, traffic generation and hundreds of other money making topics. Another reason to have a blog is the ease with which it allows you to change your website. A blog-less site is hard to update, and it's next to impossible to get customer feedback. Blogs make your site more consumer-friendly, and they can help you out with SEO, too. Ensure that Your Site Fits Your Target Market Many websites look alike, but that's not always a bad thing. Sometimes, web design elements attract target audiences. You shouldn't waste much time thinking of design concepts for your site; just pull ideas from successful sites in your niche. Learn from others, but don't copy them directly—use their ideas to create a one-of-a-kind design. Without a good site design, you'll lose conversions. People trust businesses with well-crafted websites; it makes them feel like they're dealing with an industry expert and it boosts your authority. Your site doesn't have to be very fancy, it just has to give your target market what it wants. Make sure you create a lead magnet, like an ebook or report that you know your visitors would be interested in and then collect emails and build your list. Have an opt-in form offering your lead magnet in exchange for your prospects emails address, the bigger and more responsive your list, the more sales you will be able to make from them. My personal favorite way of doing this is to purchase a few master resell rights products, bundle them as a package and offer them as a bonus for signing up to my email list. I then have a autoresponder in place to up-sell them more PLR products to maximize my earnings, here's the PLR store I use because they offer really cheap price on hot products and downloads are instant which rocks. So yeah email marketing is a key component of any internet business. So a good action plan is to find a PLR video series in your niche, rebrand it and start selling it as a coaching course. You can do this with a membership site on WordPress or a platform like Udemy. This works great because you do not have to create your own product when using PLR video contents. Don't Stop After you Build a Site Many business owners quit once they've set up a website; they think that it will run fine on its own. After you've established your brand online, you have to continue to grow it. Update your blog on a regular basis, ensure a uniform presence across all social media platforms and focus on SEO. Despite what you may have heard, all businesses require an investment in some form. Internet marketing education is no exception, and you'll be required to make substantial investments of your money and your time. However, these investments will allow you to maximize your earning potential. As we said earlier, the internet is a boundless marketplace, and setting yourself apart from your competitors can help you succeed where others have failed. The best thing you can do is invest in yourself, watch some internet marketing training videos on the major things you're unsure about and keep moving forward with your online business. If you're struggling to create your own products, you can buy some high quality private label rights articles, and then convert it into a digital product like an ebook or video course and start selling it or using it to build your email list. This is a ninja marketing strategy used by hundreds of successful digital marketers.

Home The corporate EHS function, which oversees environmental, health and safety compliance began to merge at the management level around 1990. The first area is environmental management, which emerged as a profession in the 1970s, following the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other state-level regulatory systems. As companies began limiting waste to prevent pollution, they needed engineers to adapt scrubbers, filters, and other process changes to existing manufacturing systems. Workplace safety and occupational health also grew in importance during this time, with the passage of legislation such as the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. Over time, companies developed systematic way of complying with environmental, health and safety regulations. Corporations began tracking key measures and looking for ways to improve their performance. Then, in the 1990s, improvements in data technology management made it easier for an organization to analyze its operations. Around that time, corporations began to merge oversight for environmental, health and safety programs through a new management role called EHS. The newly appointed leaders, who began their careers in one of the three sub-disciplines, started to create systems to drive EHS progress across all operations. Today, with the advent of sustainability, EHS professionals are leading corporate efforts toward sustainability. Building on their decades of experience, EHS leaders are striving to meet this challenge, creating systems to reduce energy use, conserve water, and better communicate with stakeholders. Indeed, a 2009 survey found that two-thirds of the sustainability initiatives at member companies are being led or managed by the EHS

Improtec Inc | Live on Technology The original content pays off. Especially when it comes to attracting users and getting them to subscribe to video on demand services. But how much are these investments really worth and weigh to create exclusive shows? This is explained by a report dedicated to the USA and signed by Hub Entertainment Research, which tries to give some numbers regarding the importance of guaranteeing original and quality content on its platform. When the subscription passes for exclusive shows The analysis by Hub Entertainment Research reveals first of all that more than half of users between 16 and 34 who use video on demand subscriptions decide to subscribe to a service in order to access the vision of a specific and particular show (54%). And when it comes to "original content", the market reference today is Netflix. The streaming entertainment giant is in fact mentioned as the best producer of original shows by almost a quarter of the panel of respondents (23%). And the audience of the respondents is absolutely heterogeneous: it covers, in fact, an age group from 16 to 74 years, all users who regularly watch TV during the week and who have access to broadband. Netflix distances everyone in video on demand Behind Netflix, the void: or almost. In fact, speaking of original content, the top 5 of the networks mentioned by users sees Amazon Prime Video, Espn, Cbs and Hbo follow : but if for the first two the mentions are around 6%, for the fourth and fifth service it drops to 5% and 4% respectively. Data that on the one hand are explained by the Netflix domain among the most popular streaming platforms, on the other by its strongly generalized adoption. How much does the original content weigh? As we said in the beginning, the term "original content" has a strong impact on users' choices . For the most part, in fact, it has a decisive impact on the interest they can show towards a show. Three out of five consumers, in fact, point out that they are a little more (41%) or much more interested (16%) in a new program when announced as exclusive. Disney + on boarding: Here are the most popular video on demand services with Netflix Never without Netflix : this unwavering evidence for 44% of consumers interviewed by Hub Entertainment Research last year, is confirmed also in this but with a slight drop in consents (39%). The streaming giant is, in fact, still considered the most indispensable among video on demand services, but increasingly more and more fierce competitors appear: in fact, in the ranking, follow Cbs (28%), Abc (28%), Nbc (26%) and Espn (22%). Another player, on the market for just a few months, is already gaining a lot of ground and is preparing to play an absolute leading role in the near future: it is Disney +, already considered an indispensable service by 14% of respondents from the Hub Entertainment Research survey. On a further note: it seems that Mickey Mouse and company streaming subscribers are more likely to sign up for a new service linked to a particular show, with 61% claiming to have done so in the course of 2019. How streaming subscribers behave Not all users who choose a streaming service behave the same way. The first discriminant, in terms of choices, is connected to the age group. If between 16 and 34 years old, as explained at the beginning, 54% of users choose to subscribe to a subscription to access the vision of a specific show, only 22% of those over 35 years of age behave in the same way. But it is not the only difference in terms of choices. 44% of the oldest of the users of a service are more likely to choose a show on the basis of gender than the panel of the youngest (32%).At the same time, the so-called older viewers are more inclined (24%) to choose a program based on the criterion of which is the service that makes it usable compared to younger viewers (19%). To counterbalance, the predisposition of the youngest (25% vs. 16%) to be more attracted by the vision of shows where all the episodes in a single solution are made available by the on demand service : a propensity that brings them even to an uninterrupted view of the program until its conclusion, the so-called binge watching phenomenon . Never again without: Which are the video on demand services that cannot be renounced The latest consideration of Hub Entertainment Research's analysis of video on demand services is linked to a possible forced choice. What could users not give up? For those aged between 16 and 34 the answer is obvious: Netflix (53%). But, somewhat surprisingly, for the younger ones they follow Hulu (26%) and Disney + (25%). Instead, the choices of the over 35 years and of the older users in general are completely different : the option of indispensable services, for them, sees Cbs (38%), Nbc (35%) and Abc (35%) excel. With all due respect to Netflix. You may also like https://bloghuff.co.uk/
