Come to Mom & Baby yoga and find quality time for yourself, your baby, yoga and other mothers! As a new mom, it is so difficult to find time for yourself, for yoga practice or just giving yourself a little love. However, it is so important to keep your tank full! We offer you a wonderful opportunity to restore your body after delivery! Now you can practice together with your baby. Whether you are new to yoga or reconnecting with it, these classes will get back your sense of well being. These classes are perfect for you if: you have recently become a mother and want to recover after delivery, you want to continue or begin practicing yoga but have no time for it because of the baby, you want to meet other moms you want to have fun and create better bonding with your baby. When to begin and benefits When to begin? If there are no extenuating circumstances & contraindications from your GP you can start with soft exercises 6-8 weeks after you´ve given birth. Babies aged six weeks to crawling are welcome! Benefits of Mother and Baby Yoga This class focuses on soft yoga asanas and breathing techniques that: help to relieve the strain of nursing. start to regain core strength (abdominals, pelvic floor and lower back muscles). special attention is given to the realignment of your body – especially your tense shoulders and back (consequences of carrying your growing baby). we use the breath to refresh mind and recharge the body. this class promote understanding and create better bonding with your baby. babies receive a short session of gentle massage at the end of class. What time and date Every Wednesday from 14.30 – 15.45, in Yoga Spot What to expect At the beginning of a lesson we cover our yoga mats with a blanket for a baby (we suggest that you bring it from home in case of spit-up or other spills). In an ideal world, the baby will lie on a blanket happily for the duration of the class. This rarely happens. During the class, you have the option: either your baby can be close to you on the mat or can actually participate in the movements. You are totally free to pick up and rock your baby, to (breast)feed, change diaper, walk around the room, play, talk etc… Duration Classes are 75 minutes long. You will get into the environment that is not stressful, where you can mentally relax, stop being busy and just spend time enjoying with your baby. You will meet other new mothers. After the class there is time for discussion and to make new friendships. What to bring and what not to bring What to Bring A small blanket for your baby to lie on. Your diaper bag, fully stocked with change of clothes, diapers, feeding supplies for newborns. If your child is old enough for solid food, a few dry snacks and a sippy cup of water may occupy them for a bit. Avoid things that are hard to clean up if they spill, like applesauce and juice. A favorite toy or two. Anything else small that keeps your child happy! NB Please, let us know if there is anything special that a teacher needs to know before your practice (some peculiarities of the delivery, contraindications, etc.) There is no parking place in the studio for prams or a lot of maxi cosi's, so preferably you use a slendang or 'buikdrager' for your little one.
