Twitter "I believe that curiosity is the secret. Curiosity is the truth and the way of creative living. Curiosity is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end." — Elizabeth Gilbert, Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear Well, I finished Elizabeth Gilbert's book on creative living a few days ago, and the truth that I found in the words above informed my own "creative process". There were two really big take aways that I had. 1) Curiosity is the fuel behind my own creativity, and 2) You have the right to create things that, ultimately, don't matter at all. I used to operate under the seriously mistaken idea that I had to create something great, and meaningful. And that puts a lot of misplaced pressure on yourself for an unrealistic goal. Who says what is great? How do you define that? In the process of trying to create something "great", I became formulaic and started making what I thought people were looking for. In that process, I lost what I was looking for. I lost my own style, and most of all, I lost my interest. And I think I was just waiting to hear someone tell me, my work doesn't have to mean anything at all to the world at large. I have the right to create whatever I want, and I have the right to make it unimportant, and I have the right to my own, at times crappy ideas. I even have the right to enjoy those crappy ideas. That thought freed me. And I waited, and thought about it, and guess what? An idea came knocking at my door. I love reading retellings, especially of fairytales. I've discovered I don't have much art for plot, but I'm really good at flipping storylines, and I love finding new ways of presenting characters. And I thought of Shakespeare. I love magic, and adventure. And I thought of The Tempest. Can you see where I'm going with this? The last book I wrote, The Huntress, I worked on for a very long time. I wrote and worked and in the end, I hated it. It wasn't right. You could read where my curiosity abandoned me about a hundred pages in. It's been an embarrassing two years since that time. I never stopped writing. But I moved on to poetry— something that didn't involve a serious commitment. Something I didn't feel pressure to get right every time. What I didn't realize was that all that time, I was craving another story to write. I wanted to return to it. But I was afraid of failing again. And when I thought of The Tempest, I felt that nudging at my mind. And ideas were coming through. I started asking all of those "what if" questions, and I knew I had something. So my thanks to Ms. Gilbert. I feel like I'm back. And with regained confidence. Jess

UEmboss.com | Embossing & Counterforce System General Introduction Embossing, Debossing and Counterforce Platemaking Systems. Make Embossing Dies, Plates, Cliche easily and quickly. This website has been designed to enlighten you to the exotic world of visual communications techniques, and to be inspired by the possibilities. Learn how to create a lasting impression that gets results, and sets you apart from all the rest. Thousands of new products and services are launched into the market daily. One of the best ways to have your products and or business noticed is by designing your products and its packaging to stand out in the crowd. If your products are not noticed you will not achieve critical mass to make it viable. A vibrant print design and or dynamic packaging helps, but taking it that one or two steps farther could pay serious dividends. People want good quality, well designed products with minimum but effective packaging, sold at competitive prices. Hot Foil printing and Embossing are excellent processes to enhance your products and or its packaging to help your business, product or services to be noticed. Lithography, Flexography, letterpress, Gravure, Screen printing, Pad Printing and even Digital printing will produce a "me to" result. Spot UV will enhance the printed item but is expensive and is usually limited to expensive brochures and such. Un-shackle yourself from the bonds of limitation and stand apart from the crowd, by using print finishing techniques that leap off the page with vivid colours, relief, textures and dimensions: Hot Foil Printing Embossing and or De-bossing Combination Hot Foil Printing and Embossing / De-bossing Holography Hot Foil printing, projects the look of quality and richness, while Embossing projects quality and sophistication. Combine the two and the amalgamation of colour relief and texture can be positively dazzling. In contrast Holograms, provoke curiosity and awareness as they involve the reader in an interactive visual experience that is not achievable with conventional print techniques. Amazingly these rich and elegant effects can be achieved, for the same cost or less, than the cost of offset printing. The investment in these technologies is well justified by the greater impact, enhanced perceptions and more favourable marketing responses it will help you to achieve. Hot Foil printing and or Embossing will greatly enhance the look and feel of Letterheads, Business Cards, Brochures, Greetings Cards, Labels, Boxes (packaging), and much more. These techniques, coupled with the different types and designs of Dies, Foils, and colours including Holographic Foils, Holograms, and so forth can create a nearly endless variety of visual effects.

Bioscience 2018 Bioscience - Research Through innovative Technologies 2018 will be held at Uppsala Konsert & Kongress (close to several important pharma companies) November 7th 2018 During the 20th century, we managed to push back death. In 1900, the average life expectancy was 31, today plenty of people live to be 100. The question is how to ensure it stays that way. Cancer is on the increase, and lifestyle choices and antimicrobial resistance also affect how long we live. Perhaps next generation sequencing can help keep us healthy. In April 2003, one of the most significant scientific breakthroughs of modern times was announced. After years of painstaking research carried out by thousands of dedicated scientists across the world, the complete genetic code of a human being – their genome – could be published. At this year’s BioScience event, we take a closer look at the results of the “100,000 Genomes Project”, and we ask: are we getting any closer to gene editing? ModeratorAnna Nilsson Vindefjärd, PhD MBA, Secretary General, Research!Sweden Partnering meetings with other delegates during the event can be booked in advance. Please make sure you are registered for such meetings in plenty of time! The one-on-one meeting system opens 2 weeks prior to the event and is free of charge. The international annual event Bioscience 2018 will include a series of interesting lectures focusing on new technologies and applications as well as the latest results in research. Providing a platform for meetings and networking, the event is aimed at parties in both industry and academia. The seminar part comprises a series of brief, interesting presentations intended to stimulate curiosity and continued dialogue among delegates on the exhibiting floor. Important target groups are researchers, PI''s, and professors but also lab technicians, biomedical analysts, lab equipment procurement officers and pharmaceutical industry staff. Some 300 visitors and 20 exhibitors are expected and the meeting will be covered by the media. The event will be free of charge for delegates and lunch will be offered thanks to the partners.

TIM BEST – Playing Myself Best has developed a practice of lens-based work approaching the intersection of desire and gender with curiosity. He carefully interweaves ideas of gender fluidity, deviance from widely accepted codes of behavior, and their connection to social ideas of nature. The characters flow back and forth between uncanny interior and exterior spaces to create psychological narratives amid his penetrative interventions into the printed image. His oblique, erotically charged images play with the logic of cultural definitions of gender by reversing, interrupting, and rearranging masculine and feminine characteristics of appearance. Best looks at the anti-hero and the prostitute, jarringly exchanging their gender characteristics while disabling the voyeur's gaze with marks made on the photographic print itself. He avoids the spectacle of pornography and offers complex investigations into the gender constitution of people and places.

Ami Strachan Photography Street Photography is about how you capture what’s around you, how confident you are as a person, how you handle peoples reactions when or after you take their photo. I know it seems scary but just go for it, but not everybody feels confident in public with a camera and taking pictures of people, you need basic knowledge, it’s like laying a foundation before we build a house, it's what makes it strong. Street Photography is not everyone's cup of tea, best to do it for yourself, fill your curiosity. You don’t have to be a serious Street Photographer, as long this genre makes you get up and get out, that’s great. I believe we only gain something from focussing on what we do and keep on trying. I never stop learning when doing Street, everything about it fascinates me, from the people, shadows, shapes, to en empty road. Since I started Street photography, I never get bored. I do Street everywhere, weekends, during holidays, days out with friends, in good weather or bad weather, in broad daylight or at night. The Street is available to everyone who’s willing to do it, 24/7. I started my workshops recently, it’s my great pleasure to introduce Street Photography to others and keep motivating them afterwards. I am always pleased to discover that many of my workshop attendees actually have the skills and understanding but need advice and demonstrations to begin with. I regularly see my workshop attendees doing well after workshops, they start “seeing things” which is the hardest part in Street photography. They gain the confidence to go out and the most important thing is they enjoy it, they feel that Street Photography gives them something to look forward, to go outside and practice. I think that’s wonderful. During the workshops I demonstrate my skills by showing some of my images that I have taken over many years, I point out good subjects that I spot on the Street and give them the explanation and of course I make sure my attendees doing a lot of practising to gain their confidence. My advice to beginners is: Go out, make lots of mistakes and importantly, enjoy it!

Whiner Beer Company Whiner Beer Co. focuses on barrel-aged beer, a tradition common in Belgium and France that is gaining foothold in the US. Industry veterans and partners Brian Taylor and Ria Neri aim to make beers for people with a wanderlust palate, a curiosity for the strange and unknown, and those who take their beer seriously, but never themselves. Housed in The Plant, a net-zero energy business incubator located in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood, Whiner aims to promote environmentally responsible brewing. The brewery will play a major role in the operations of The Plant’s anaerobic digester. Once up and running, Whiner’s spent grain will help fuel the digester, producing energy for the entire building.

The Wolf Connection | The internet is a never-ending marketplace where buyers, sellers and marketers can meet. If you are thinking of starting an internet marketing business, you should learn more about internet marketing (IM). There are many things that customers want to know about your business, and you should satisfy your customers' curiosity or they'll take their business elsewhere. Read on to learn how to start internet marketing and find new customers. Start a Blog If you think starting an internet business is easy, you're mistaken. It's sometimes a real hassle to keep people updated, but blog marketing can build strong connections between you and your customers. Regular updates will give your customers the opportunity to offer feedback about your products, and blogging will help you rank for valuable keywords. I personally learned my blogging skills from IME, it's the best internet marketing training for beginners available at a really cheap price of only $9.97 per month and hosts over 2500 video courses to help you get started with blogging, SEO, internet marketing and hundreds of other money making topics. Another reason to have a blog is the ease with which it allows you to change your website. A blog-less site is hard to update, and it's next to impossible to get customer feedback. Blogs make your site more consumer-friendly, and they can help you out with SEO, too. Ensure that Your Site Fits Your Target Market Many websites look alike, but that's not always a bad thing. Sometimes, web design elements attract target audiences. You shouldn't waste much time thinking of design concepts for your site; just pull ideas from successful sites in your niche. Learn from others, but don't copy them directly—use their ideas to create a one-of-a-kind design. Without a good site design, you'll lose conversions. People trust businesses with well-crafted websites; it makes them feel like they're dealing with an industry expert and it boosts your authority. Your site doesn't have to be very fancy, it just has to give your target market what it wants. Make sure you create a lead magnet, like an ebook or report that you know your visitors would be interested in and then collect emails and build you list. Have an opt-in form offering your lead magnet in exchange for your prospects emails address, the bigger and more responsive your list, the more sales you will be able to make from them. My personal favorite way of doing this is to purchase a few master resell rights products, bundle them as a package and offer them as a bonus for signing up to my email list. I then have a autoresponder in place to up-sell them more PLR products to maximize my earnings, here's the PLR store I use because they offer really cheap price on hot products and downloads are instant which rocks. So yeah email marketing is a key component of any internet business. Don't Stop After you Build a Site Many business owners quit once they've set up a website; they think that it will run fine on its own. After you've established your brand online, you have to continue to grow it. Update your blog on a regular basis, ensure a uniform presence across all social media platforms and focus on SEO. Despite what you may have heard, all businesses require an investment in some form. Internet marketing education is no exception, and you'll be required to make substantial investments of your money and your time.
