Anthony Romano, MSPM, PMP Hi and let me introduce myself. My name is Tony Romano and I am a professional program manager with 19 years of diverse experience working in the pharmaceutical industry. The key to my success is established by increasing the probability of achieving a desired business outcome by maximizing program and project predictability. This is accomplished via my consistent use of standard methodologies, early establishment and continual monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs), detailed understanding of the Product Life Cycle, Software Development Life Cycle, Quality Management and leadership skills. As an example of my capabilities, I took on the responsibilities of leading a team of 20 members in the implementation of a Global Electronic Laboratory Notebook System across a basic research organization. I started this project with a business case, then selected the appropriate vendor after methodically going through an RFP process. At project closure the team I lead came within 1 month of the original forecasted date and within budget. I specialize in using earned value metrics such as CPI and SPI to monitor program/project execution. Currently, I am the Program Manager directing activities on the harmonization of a Clinical Portal Access and Collaboration endeavor which will enable a single point of entry to outside investigators to access clinical information and documents post Merck''s merger with Schering. This effort successfully applies an Agile development methodology in a regulated environment to enable frequent software releases so that the end users can realize benefits on a steady and continuous basis. Early in 2010, I also worked on setting up a sponsorship spine, program plan and the on-boarding of specific vendors for the implementation of a common Clinical Trial Management System across Merck globally. In all my endeavors, I am responsible for the processes, governance and tools used to create, assess, plan, drive and communicate the execution of very large programs. Key Responsibilities • Define Program and Project Charters • Design, lead and evolve the PMO • Overall investment, benefit and risk optimization • Active program performance monitoring and controlling • Business environment change adaptation with focus on realization • Information exchange and linkage to associated external initiatives • Partner with peer leaders and project managers to achieve program goals • Management of large teams working in a matrix environment I have a Masters of Science in Project Management from Boston University and I am PMP certified. Recently, I have begun studying for the MSP® Practitioner certification. I also regularly post new white papers and short essays. My latest white paper covers the minimum elements needed to Successfully Introduce a PMO Framework in a Fortune 500 Company. Enjoy. Thanks Tony
