arrow-down Campus Ministry United is made up of campus ministers, educators, evangelists, and college students associated with the Churches of Christ. Our mission is to carry out the Great Commission by making disciples of college students, and we seek to accomplish that goal in three primary ways. Campus Ministry United Exists to … 1. Start new churches for underserved university populations through regional church-planting movements. CMU’s primary objective is to carry out Jesus’ Great Commission to make disciples in the specific context of university communities. Experience has taught us that the best way to achieve that goal is through the strategic planting of brand new congregations with disciplemaking and church-planting-culture ingrained in their DNA from the beginning. In CMU’s strategy, new church plants are led by existing local congregations. To ensure year-round support and encouragement, plants are required to be within a reasonable distance from their sending churches. Currently, CMU personnel are working on plants from the epicenters of Tulsa, OK, and St. Louis, MO. Over time and as we plant new churches and ministries out from these epicenters, we will strive to establish new epicenters in other areas to target additional regions. 2. Train campus ministers and plant teams. Closely aligned with CMU’s primary objective to plant disciplemaking churches is the objective to train individual disciplemakers who will work together to form plant teams. CMU training occurs on-site and in the context of real-life ministry – not so much in a classroom. If you’d like to learn more about what’s involved in CMU training go here. 3. Provide consultation and resources for campus ministers, ministries, and churches. Those working with CMU have decades of experience reaching and discipling college students. In addition to CMU’s annual events, phone consultations with church leaders and weekend seminars for local congregations who would like to learn about effective campus ministry are available. If interested, contact us and let us know how we can help. See also CMU’s free resources page – a steadily growing amount of material is available to registered members of this website free of charge.
